MP4 Stream Editor quick tutorial for cutting/joining MP3s and MP4s
In the following tutorials MP3 format is used, the same applies to all decodeless supported formats (MP4, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, DSD).
How to simply cut out a selection from an MP3?
1. Open an MP3 with menu: File/Open... - this should bring up the sample display
2. Left mouse click on the sample display to set selection starting position
3. Right mouse click on the sample display to set selection ending position
4. If you wish to listen what you have selected press the yellow play button on the right (or middle mouse click on the sample display to play from the click position)
5. From menu select: 'Stream/Save Selection as Stream Copy...'
6. Give a file name - the selection will be saved to the specified file name
How to cut multiple selections from an MP3?
1. Open an MP3 with menu: File/Open... - this should bring up the sample display
2. Left mouse click on the sample display to set selection starting position
3. Right mouse click on the sample display to set selection ending position
4. If you wish to listen what you have selected press the yellow play button on the right (or middle mouse click on the sample display to play from the click position)
5. Click '+Cut' (in the upper-right corner) - this will bring up the cut list
6. Repeat 2.-5. steps as needed
7. Select 'Cut Mode' (in the upper left corner)
8. Click 'Process' (in the upper right corner)
9. Give a file name and selections will be saved as multiple files with the given base file name
How to split an MP3 with subsong system (or .cue sheet) into multiple files?
1. Bring up the cut list (5th large icon in the upper left corner)
2. Add the MP3 file to the cut list with either browsing them with the file browser at the left side of the window or by double mouse clicking on an empty cut list slot
3. Select 'Cut Mode' (in the upper left corner)
4. Click Process (in the upper right corner)
How to join MP3s?
There are two solutions for this. You can use the Sample diplay and Cut/Copy/Paste audio stream like in any audio app. or the other solution fits more if you just want to join a couple of MP3 files:
1. Bring up the cut list (5th large icon in the upper left corner)
2. Select 'Join Mode' (in the upper left corner)
3. Add files to the list either with right click pop-up menu: Add... or with double-clicking on MP3 files in the file browser on the left
4. In the 'Output info' display you'll see the estimated total size and playtime
5. Check the 'Construct subsongs' (advised - upper left corner) and/or 'Genereate .CUE sheet' options if you want to generate some kind of seek-table for the Subsongs in the resulting joined stream
6. Click Process (in the upper right corner) and give a file name for the joined MP3 stream
